Rachel Maddow: Michigan’s Dystopian (Corporate Republican) Future And Naomi Klein’s Shock Doctrine

I live in Michigan…and this hits home.

Republicans are the enemy of the working people.

Period.

It’s time to understand the tactics of your enemy and make real counter-moves. This is not a game.

It is naive to assume that labor unions are simply defenders of working people. Clearly they are no so in those cases where they demand benefits that are so costly that employers refuse to hire additional workers due to the costly benefits. Unions that function as closed shops in effect deny jobs to those members of the working class who do not wish to join unions. Members of the working class who act as consumers of goods manufactured in the US pay more when they have to buy union produced goods.
